Workplace injuries
Courage and risk – a different perspective
Eddie the Eagle and SafeStart UK Founder, Larry Wilson, to co-present in the Keynote Theatre at Safety & Health Expo 2019.
Can you reduce human error and eliminate up to 95% of workplace injuries? That’s the issue that will be debated by Larry Wilson, CEO and Author of SafeStart International, and former British Olympic Ski Jumper Eddie the Eagle Edwards this June.
The pair are set to address the topic of courage and risk at Safety & Health Expo 2019 in their session on the Keynote Theatre, from 11:30 – 12:30 on Wednesday 19 June, at London’s ExCeL.
The sessions will be themed around Safestart’s research, which says that the majority of common workplace injuries happen in everyday situations. Larry will discuss how rushing, frustration, fatigue and complacency are normal states practitioners face in the working day. These four states are responsible for almost all injuries.
Eddie and Larry will present how organisations can tackle these common safety pain points, moving beyond compliance and reducing the common causes of workplace injuries.
State of mind
SafeStart addresses everyday safety issues experienced by managers and the perceived conflict between production and safety. Instead of focusing on the hazard, SafeStart focuses on the state of mind that the individual is in and how this could lead to an incident occurring.
The SafeStart programme has been successfully implemented in 64 countries and 32 languages, across 10,000 worksites, and has trained more than three million people.
Larry Wilson said, “Eddie and I look forward to meeting delegates at Safety & Health Expo this year. We look at safety in a totally new way, and our presentation will demonstrate how to tackle risk head on giving individuals the solution to improve their safety both at work and home.”
Eddie and Larry will be joining fellow inspirational speakers, Jonny Wilkinson and Steph McGovern at the show. Eddie and Larry will also be hosting a meet and greet and book signing session on the SafeStart Stand SH2045 after their presentation on Wednesday 19 June.
