Electric tugs – MasterMover

By investing in six of its electricoperated materials-handling tugs for moving roll cages of catering trolleys, laundry and medical notes MasterMover says Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has reduced the risk of accidents and injuries to its staff, while also improving handling efficiencies.

The solution provided was MasterMover’s SmartMover electricoperated tug, described as a versatile machine designed for moving roll cages from vehicle tail lifts and across uneven surfaces and slopes. By clamping to the base of the roll cage or trolley, the unit ensures that the cage cannot be tipped on to the operator, says Mastermover, adding that this reduces serious injury to employees and makes unloading and moving goods a single-person procedure. Multiple roll cages can be moved using towing links, and sealed batteries, variable speed and auto braking are also standard features.

The machine is also said to be very easy to use. Via a throttle paddle on the headset the user can vary the speed according to the conditions. Among other built-in safety features cited by MasterMover is an anti-crush button that ensures that the user cannot become trapped between the machine and an immovable object, an electro-magnetic brake, and the ability to steer the unit on either side, making turning in tight spaces easy.
