SHP Rising Star Awards 2023

Safety & Health Practitioner

Launched by SHP in 2015, the Rising Star Award is free to enter and open to anyone aged 30 and under.

This special award aims to commend young professionals showing drive and determination in the early stages of their careers and supports them for further success.

As well as a Rising Star UK award, previous years have seen sub-awards in categories including manufacturing, construction and international – however, this year we will be looking for just one overall winner – the Rising Star.

For 2023, the awards are in collaboration with HSE Recruitment Network.

Recognising health and safety professionals across all sectors, going above and beyond to improve occupational health, safety and/or workplace wellbeing in the UK, this is among one of the highest awards for young health and safety professionals.

The current holder of Rising Star UK, winner of the 2022 award, is Jake Newell, Asbestos Analyst at Acorn Analytical Services. “Winning the award has really helped to boost my confidence,” Jake told SHP in a special interview for interview. What makes a Rising Star?

If you’re looking to enter the SHP Rising Star category, judges will be looking for entrants, under the age of 30, to demonstrate commitment, drive and passion to their role. Where appropriate, they would like to see tangible examples of initiative taken and to demonstrate this passion and commitment and drive.
