Lone worker stories to be shared at SHE

Sandra O'BrienVisitors to Peoplesafe’s stand at the Safety and Health Expo will be able to hear real life stories about lone working within organisations.

Peoplesafe will be hosting speakers to tell their stories at the Expo, which runs from 16 to 18 June at ExCeL in London. Among the speakers will be Sandra O’Brien (pictured) from Grand Union Housing Group.

Grand Union Housing, which manages approximately 11,000 properties in Bedfordshire, Northamptonshire and Buckinghamshire, are now using Peoplesafe’s products to assist with their lone worker systems.

The results were new lone worker policies across the organisation and the issuing of safety devices to 140 frontline staff. The device, the Indenticom 877, looks like an identity badge, but incorporates GPS and an alarm button connected to Peoplesafe’s monitoring centre.

O’Brien said: “The health and safety of lone workers is now embedded into Grand Union Housing and affects all aspects of working practices and procedures. Peoplesafe’s systems have made staff feel safer while carrying out their duties, knowing that help is just a button push away and they feel more valued by their organisation.”

It’s estimated there are 6.8 million lone workers in this country, which is 22 per cent of the working population. They range from lorry drivers and social workers to shop assistants and farm workers.

Sandra O’Brien will be speaking on 16 June at 12:30 at the BSIA Lone Worker Arena. You can register for your free place at the Safety and Health Expo here.
