Underground services – RPA Safety Services

An underground services course accredited by IOSH has been released by RPA Safety Services Ltd.

The company says it is different from other training courses in that it covers all elements of HSG47 (Avoiding danger from underground services) and is externally accredited. It places great emphasis on the importance of both theory and practical elements.

RPA says the one-day course develops candidates’ understanding of the limitations of plans and service-location tools and the importance of safe digging techniques. Additionally, everyone is shown how to use a CAT and a signal generator, and to apply their learning on site using the appropriate service drawings. The importance of dynamic risk assessment, applied as the work progresses, is at the core of the course.

Candidates are given formal assessments of the practical and theory elements to determine understanding.
