Top health and safety marks for print company
An Oxfordshire print company says it is celebrating a perfect score in a recently-launched performance initiative for the industry.
Bicester-based BGP says it is the first UK print company to achieve 100 per cent in the British Print Industries Federation’s (BPIF) Seal of Excellence certification scheme for health and safety.
The scheme was launched by the BPIF earlier this year so that printers could use it to show their customers how they have been improving their performance in crucial areas, and particularly health and safety.
BGP was audited in October on such areas as health and safety management, control of machinery hazards, slip and trips, workplace transport, skin care, and lifting and handling.
The company’s health and safety manager, Neil Ironmonger (pictured), paid tribute to BGP’s senior managers, saying they had been “extremely supportive” in terms of improving efficiencies and adhering to his requests. He added: “It’s also a great acknowledgement of the staff, who have also played a major part in helping BGP attain the award.
“Together with their continued support, and the support of both chairman David Holland and the Board, we can now work together towards achieving zero incidents at BGP.”
A follow-up assessment to ensure the company is continuing to comply with the audit’s criteria is carried out every two years.
