Stephen Ellis aims to drive quality and innovation in the company’s life-saving products.
Birmingham-based manufacturer, Evac+Chair International, has brought Stephen Ellis, as its Technical Director. Stephen is an experienced engineering director from the automotive sector. He aims to help drive the company’s ambitious plans to broaden and enhance its range of life-saving products.
Stephen has 15 years’ experience working in the automotive sector, in roles ranging from vehicle crash testing at MIRA, to the design and development of low-volume, premium vehicles for Jaguar Land Rover. He then switched to a tier one automotive supplier, producing mechatronic components for low-volume, high-value vehicles.
“It was this last role which made me realise that building a business was as exciting as working in engineering and that’s what attracted me to the role at Evac+Chair International,” explains Stephen, who will be responsible for product strategy, product development and delivery, technical support, quality assurance and approvals as well as compliance.
“Engineering in the automotive sector is highly disciplined and regulated so my experience allows me to inject even greater rigour to the processes here. Together with the R&D team at Evac+Chair, I will be looking at what products we can develop by 2020 and then 2030 and beyond. Part of that process will be listening to our customers to make sure we continue to design and develop great products which will meet their needs, now and in the future,” he added.
Ges Wallace, Managing Director at Evac+Chair International explains: “The new role of Technical Director has been created to research, develop and deliver new and improved products to the market for Evac+Chair, Paraid and Sigma FS.
“From evacuation chairs to neonatal transport trollies and fire safety products, we are committed to investing in our ranges to meet the highest quality and safety standards worldwide. In Stephen, we’ve found someone who shares our passion for innovation coupled with quality assurance and continuous improvement.”
Evac+Chair will again be showcasing its emergency stair-descent solutions at this year’s Safety & Health Expo, taking place at the ExCeL, London, from 18-20 June.
