Alcumus acquires SM&MS Ltd
Alcumus has announced the acquisition of Safety Management & Monitoring Services Limited (SM&MS), a health & safety and environmental services provider, specialising in the property management sector.
Established in 1994 and based in Huddersfield, SM&MS supports a long-established national client base. Over the last 20 years, the 80-strong team at SM&MS have supported more than 1,600 companies across 60,000 projects, and delivered over 10,000 risk assessments last year alone.
Alcumus says the SM&MS offering encompasses various H&S risk management and monitoring aspects, (including asbestos, legionella and fire monitoring and inspection) as well as energy performance and general H&S consultancy and support. Alcumus says these consultancy services are underpinned by SaaS software that enables clients to proactively manage health & safety issues and contractor risk.
Beatriz Shorrock, SM&MS operations director, and Richard Edwards, SM&MS business development director, will join the Alcumus leadership team.
Commenting on the acquisition, Martin Smith, chief executive officer of Alcumus said: “We have known SM&MS for a number of years and are delighted to have acquired a business with such a strong reputation for quality and delivery of critical risk management service to the commercial multi-site property sector.”
SM&MS founders, Philip and Sue Morris, commented: “Having grown the business over the last 20 years, we are delighted that SM&MS, and its loyal workforce and client base, will now benefit from the shared expertise and resources of Alcumus. We look forward with confidence to seeing SM&MS and Alcumus continue to innovate and grow within the monitoring and H&S risk management compliance market.”
