Campaign – Workers reminded about the importance of safe working practices

Logistics provider Stobart Group has launched a safety campaign aimed at reducing accidents by promoting safe working practices among its staff.

The campaign will focus on raising awareness about the importance of complying with safety procedures. It will primarily target truck drivers and staff with labour intensive or manual handling roles, but it will spans the entire group, which includes Eddie Stobart, Stobart Rail, Stobart Ports, Stobart Developments, and Stobart Air.

To highlight and encourage safe working procedures, the campaign has adopted a ‘traffic light’ approach where staff will be encouraged to stop, think then act. All of the group’s 5,500 employees will receive a pocket-sized reminder card, and posters are being displayed across its depots, warehouses and offices. €ᄄ €ᄄA similar scheme was hailed a success last year after it helped to cut RIDDOR accident rates by100 percent when rolled out across the Stobart Rail division, and it’s hoped these results can be repeated through this new campaign.

Stobart Group heath and safety manager Neil Marston said: “This really is a common sense approach. We don’t want people to stop working but we want them to work in a safe manner. By following our advice and just assessing the situation first, I’m sure we can prevent many of the simple, avoidable accidents that still seem to be happening.”€ᄄ €ᄄ“We want to encourage all staff to work safely and follow the safe systems of work procedures and health and safety training they receive as part of their induction to the company.”
