Do you play the National Lottery? Millions do and, every week, they buy a ticket in the hope of winning the jackpot. However, the odds of doing that are a vanishingly small 1 in 45 million! And, yet, millions of people still think it might be them.

The odds of being in an injury collision while driving for work are just 1 in 500 and yet very few people believe it could ever happen to them. There are also many more people die each year in road crashes involving someone driving for work, than all the RIDDOR-reportable workplace fatalities put together, such as falling from height or from operating machinery.

The management of driver safety can often be shared across many roles in the business, such as fleet, HR, finance, etc. There are many responsibilities, however, the management of driver and vehicle safety falls under the Health and Safety at Work Act so, in the event of a serious incident, guess who the investigating authorities are going to want to talk to first? That’s right – the safety professional who they know should already understand the legislation.

How confident are you that…

  • All of your vans are safe and roadworthy today?
  • All of your drivers have an appropriate valid driving license?
  • All of your drivers were fit to drive when they started work today?
  • All of your drivers are competent to drive the vehicles they are in?
  • Any loads being carried are within legal load limits?
  • Any loads being carried are safely secured, including tools, parts, etc.?

The presentation will look at

  • Exactly where driver safety risk lies throughout your business during a typical day
  • Your key tasks in ensuring driver and vehicle safety
  • Simple legal compliance vs. industry good practice
  • Driving for work policy development and communication
  • Record keeping, reporting and management information

And, more importantly

  • Tools to help you manage all of this professionally and efficiently

The presentation will be followed by a Q&A session
