Editor’s pick: Events not to miss at Safety & Health Expo this May!
Safety & Health Expo 2023 (16-18 May) is almost here and with that in mind, I’ve picked out some fantastic show highlights not to miss…
The Safety & Health Expo this year is packed full of events and showcasing, from the Networking Café, Prof Sir Jonathan Van-Tam and Sir Lenny Henry’s Inspirational Speaker sessions to leading health and safety suppliers all in one place. Not to mention the co-related shows IFSEC, FIREX and The Facilities Show taking place at London ExCel too.
Products being showcased at Safety & Health Expo range from PPE, site safety equipment, wellbeing, hazardous materials management, training, risk management, hygiene, lone worker safety technology and much more.
Mental health charity Mind, will also be exhibiting and presenting as Safety & Health Expo’s official charity partner.
With the three days packed full of activity – I’ve picked out my top highlights not to miss here:
Managing creativity safely
A behind-the-scenes look at the world of safety professionals in entertainment. Speakers include Games & Tasks Producer of ‘I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here!’ as well as the International Director EHS for NBCUniversal at Universal Studios Group.
Survivors’ stories
These will be personal, powerful accountants of life-changing incidents. A different survivor will share their story each day.
Ex-heating engineer Dylan Skelhorn, previewed his presentation with SHP, discussing why workplace safety is a ‘financial and moral imperative’. He also outlines what he hopes the audience will take away from his message.Why the UK renewable energy sector needs to catch-up with safety
Megan Hine, from Draegar Safety UK will explain how energy and carbon capture industries have similar risks to oil and gas industries, but lag behind when it comes to safety on Thursday 18 May.

Driver Safety
These will be consecutive presentations from RoSPA and Driving for Better Business. RoSPA’s Penny Brooks will lead the session: ‘Focusing on the fatal four to challenge dangerous driver behaviours’ and then Simon Turner, from Driving for Better Business will head up his talk: ‘Vehicles don’t crash, people do. Driving change in work-related driver safety’. Both will be presenting on Tuesday 16 May.
Getting under the skin of recent legal cases and what we can learn from them
Hear behind-the-scenes details of some recent health and safety cases that have been in court. Amy Sadro, Principal Associate at Eversheds Sutherland, will look at some notable court cases around workplace accidents and what we can learn from them at Safety & Health Expo next month.
Supporting employee mental health in challenging times
A keynote address from the Head of Workplace Wellbeing at Mind, Andrew Berrie. The charity will also have a stand, so you can talk to them at any point during the show.
