Carl Morgan wins SHP’s Rising Innovation Star Award

Carl Morgan, a Health and Safety Advisor at EDF, claimed the SHP Rising Star Innovation award, impressing judges with his use of technology in the tracking of temporary works structures.

Carl, who represents EDF as the main point of contact for health & Safety advice for nuclear islands 1&2, was presented with his award by Anna Keen, Founding Director at AcreFrameworks, during a ceremony at Safety & Health Expo.

Overseeing the work of the largest contractor on the project Carl deals with complex technical and interface management issues. “He achieves this with a technical knowledge and professionalism that belies his age.” said his nominator.

Carl is developing a technology with leading temporary works experts to utilise smart technology in the tracking of temporary works structures and inspection regimes on a live electronic register, something which stood out for tyhe judges.

Successful implementation of the technology is intended to bring the ongoing management and maintenance of scaffolding, excavations and temporary works structures into 21st century technology.
