Companies in the construction, infrastructure and industrial sector can now hire Cardiac Science’s Powerheart® G5 Automatic External Defibrillator (AED) as part of a range of health and safety equipment from Supply UK.

The Powerheart® G5 AED is said to be the first AED to combine real-time cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) guidance, customised patient therapy and fast shock times.

It is described as being designed to enable both professional rescuers and first-time users to provide swift and effective life-saving therapy to someone who has suffered a SCA.

Dave Thomas, Managing Director at Survey & Laser, said: “The Powerheart G5 will deliver high quality CPR with defibrillation on the spot to save a life. We’ve teamed up with Cardiac Science to provide an affordable and workable solution based around service, equipment hire and training provision for organisations of all sizes. This will make the process of accessing AEDs easier, especially where the need is short term.

“As health and safety requirements become more demanding it was a natural move to incorporate the Powerheart G5 AED into our equipment portfolio. It will ensure that in the event of a SCA happening, the best possible therapy is available to the victim, critically, within the first three minutes, before the emergency services arrive at the scene.”

Its great to see Cardiac Science are making AED’s more accessible. These machines when used can significantly improve a persons chance of surviving a cardiac arrest, figures show that a heart in arrest that recieves defibrillation within 5 minutes has a 60 to 80% chance of returning to a stable heart rhythm (sinus rhythm), a strong case for AED’s in work and public places. The beauty of these machines is that they will not allow a shock to be delivered unless the heart is in a chaotic rhythm called Ventricular Fibrillation (VF), so there is no chance of delivering a… Read more »

This is a great concept to make AED’s available for hire. This can reduce the initial cost of purchase of the equipment and the training of employees.
This cost can be spread over monthly installments and this may encourage small to medium size businesses to hire this life saving equipment
opposed to outright purchase. This equipment will greatly increase a persons chance of survival if they sustain a sudden cardiac arrest situation.
Although it is not current legislation that industries have this equipment it is certainly Best Practice.and a step forward.
