Consultancy celebrates 10 years in the business
Wenlock Health & Safety Ltd celebrated its 10th anniversary earlier this month, and marked the occasion by presenting one of its clients with a special award.
Jackie Horsewood set up Wenlock in 2002 after acting as the health, safety and environmental manager at a construction firm for seven years. She realised the need for affordable and practical help for small and medium-sized contractors, designers and developers. The company now employs seven people and looks after a wide range of clients – from retailers to salons to motor workshops – but specialises in the construction industry.
The company has handed out safety awards since 2007 to reward and encourage clients. Some of the winners have included: a special-needs group for ‘Best safety culture’; the managing director of a local salon for ‘Best health and safety director’; the technical director of a paint manufacturer for ‘Best works manager’; and a construction firm for ‘Commitment to continual improvement’.
However, Wenlock wanted to hand over one additional accolade to celebrate its 10th anniversary and decided to give CH Contracting (South-West) Ltd an award in recognition of its outstanding efforts in implementing a proactive and effective safety culture throughout its business.
Having helped nearly 500 companies over the past 10 years, Wenlock says it is proud to have played a part in proving that a practical approach towards risk management isn’t as difficult and obstructive as people perceive it to be.
