Preparing practitioners for the future

This year’s IOSH Conference will help practitioners and the business community explore the changes they need to be ready for in the workplace.

IOSH 07 ‘Health and safety: the changing world of work’ takes place at the Telford International Centre on 27 and 28 March and features more than 50 speakers on all of the hottest health, safety and environment topics.

Feedback from delegates at last year’s conference has been considered in detail in this year’s programme, and we’ve made sure you can tailor IOSH 07 to your own requirements more than ever before.

There are seven parallel session subject areas, which run throughout the afternoon on both days, allowing you to decide which parts of the conference best meet your needs.

Hear the leading names

As always at an IOSH Conference, there’s a whole host of leading names from the health and safety and business worlds speaking, with Professor Dame Carol Black giving an address on 27 March on the relationship between health and work. The keynote address on 28 March will be given by HSE chief executive, Geoffrey Podger.

There are case study presentations on:

– The London 2012 Olympics;

– T-Mobile’s disaster recovery plan;

– Occupational health at British Waterways; and

– Award-winning health and safety training with ANC Express.

Best practice from the police and military will also be shared, as chief superintendent Neil Gould, from West Midlands Police, talks about ‘Project Griffin’, a scheme that aims to encourage business to work with the police to tackle terrorism; and Colonel Chris Manning, from the British Army, reveals some health and safety lessons from the military.

There are also speakers from leading companies such as: Sainsbury’s, EDF Energy, Network Rail, British Nuclear Group and British Sugar, as well the National Petrochemical Company in Iran, and System Improvement Incorporated from the USA.

Booking options include:

– Full conference – priced £560+VAT for IOSH members, £590 + VAT for POOSH members, SMEs and safety reps, or £660 + VAT for non members;

– One-day conference pass – priced £380 + VAT for IOSH members, £405 + VAT for POOSH members, SMEs and safety reps, or £480 + VAT for non-members.

Free exhibition

Networking is a key part of the whole IOSH Conference experience, and each of the IOSH Specialist Groups will be represented in the main exhibition where you can find out more about what they have to offer and pick up best practice examples, information sheets and newsletters. You can even book an appointment with an SG expert.

Visitors can attend the exhibition for free. By registering, you can:

– find out more about some 100 leading health and safety products and services;

– hear essential updates and practical advice at two free spotlight theatres; and

– pick up information about exhibitor products and industry publications at the ‘media zone’

New to IOSH 07 is an online networking facility, which allows all registered exhibition visitors to arrange meetings before the event, as well as using free internet access so if you have to keep in touch with the office, you can!

At the heart of the exhibition is the IOSH stand, where you can find out about the latest training products, ask about membership issues, buy the latest books and gifts, or get technical advice.
