Training – ‘DSEAR with a Bang’ one-day training course
DSC-Ltd, led by Roy Smith (pictured), says its ‘DSEAR with a Bang’ one-day training course is now accredited by IOSH.
The company believes that safety representatives, shop-floor engineers, managers and directors alike should all understand the implications of what can go seriously wrong, when using, storing, or transporting flammable and hazardous chemicals.
The course covers the concept of the Fire Danger triangle, use of flammables in the workplace, methods of correct storage, and legal penalties for non-compliance with the Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations (DSEAR) 2002.
The course also looks at aspects of health and safety that many people might never consider when carrying out their risk assessments. According to DSC-Ltd, these include implications of production processes, explosive atmospheres generated by substances not classified as flammable, the associations of flash point, auto ignition, vapour pressure, vapour density, limits of flammability, boiling point, and much more.
The next course dates for ‘DSEAR with a Bang’ at DSC-Ltd’s Walsall facility are 16 October and 20 November. Other dates are available for later in the year and the course will also be available through the Fire Prevention Association in the near future, says the firm.
