The guardian angel when working alone

People who work alone or on mobile are at increased risk of being injured but not helped immediately, as they might be found a couple of hours later.

You may know this awful gut feeling: what happens if I have an accident now? Will somebody be in the vicinity? Will I still be able to call for help? How long will it take until someone can rush to my aid?

Looking into the statistical data for UK’s manufacturing sector, more than 12,000 work-related accidents happen annually. Out of that sum, nearly 3,600 fall accidents happen yearly, most often caused by slipping, tripping, or falling from a height. Most of them result in an absence from work for more than seven days. Besides, 35 severe electrical accidents were reported, most of them also with intense injuries.

As for all kinds of injuries, a fast and proper response is needed. Especially lone workers are exposed as they do not have a companion when injured. Although you might be injured only minorly, you might not be missed immediately. Thus, your injury might become worse, and you might receive medical treatment later than expected. Especially lone workers and mobile workers are exposed to this risk.

Assistance systems can help to relieve this bad gut feeling and assist in emergencies. One of these systems is ANGEL by ADRESYS. You wear the ANGEL systems on your waistband or an ANGEL shirt. The electronics automatically detect emergencies, such as motionlessness, falls, or electrical accidents.

In such emergencies, the connected smartphone and the electronics will acoustically alarm people in the vicinity so bystanders can notice the sound and help. Moreover, the corresponding app on the smartphone will immediately forward the emergency information to emergency contacts, e.g., co-workers or a central office. With the automated voice call and text message, the emergency contacts are called the attention to the emergency, and they can immediately see where the accident has happened and rush to help. The system also includes emergency GPS localization and additional information, such as who is injured or what has happened.

Moreover, you can use a Task Timer when working in areas with no reception. The timer will store your GPS location and additional work information. Once it has elapsed and you haven’t reacted to the pre-alarm, the emergency call chain is also activated.

Thus, an intelligent system can be your guardian angel in emergencies, especially if you can’t call for help by yourself anymore. By this, we want to ensure that minor accidents won’t turn into severe ones. ADRESYS provides trial packages for your company; we believe you should not buy the pig in the poke.
