Make UK launches mental health & wellbeing seminars

Make UK, the manufacturers’ organisation, has launched a new seminar series, to help employers improve their management with mental health conditions, as it is one of the biggest challenges HR professionals face.

Managing employees with mental or physical ill health conditions, has become increasingly important in the workplace. Companies strive to maintain the balance of increasing productivity and maintain the wellbeing of their employees.

Legal, HR and occupational health expertise from Make UK, will collaboratively provide clear and practical guidance, on actively managing employee ill health, in the modern workplace.

The seminar is aimed for HR Professionals, Senior Line Managers and others with responsibility for managing those with ill health conditions & wellbeing programs. It will cover topics including:

  • How to proactively manage sickness absence.
  • How to deal with disability in the workplace.
  • Handling mental health and stress related problems.
  • Updating and monitoring policies and procedures, for physical and mental ill health.
  • How to adopt a wellbeing strategy with a return for employers and employees.

In addition, the series will take a practical approach to wellbeing strategies. Case studies will be demonstrated, to explain what steps an employer can take, in the event of a challenging mental health or absence issue, with its needs-based employee wellbeing program.

Looks like, same ole, same old reactive approach to mental health averse, a pro-active one by supporting even promoting “wellbeing” to prevent or at least mitigate presenteeism and risk of repetitive stress injuries, be they, physical and/or mental as the individual reaches the point of “adaptation exhaustion” and then manifesting seriously debilitating mental and/or physical health deficits / illness sufficient to require prolonged treatment or rehab….

Surely, identifying WEL across their activities to address foreseeable and predictable risks to their wellbeing prior to presentation of RSI’s, WRULD’s, MSD’s etc makes sense, doesn’t it ?
