An audience with Alastair Campbell: coming this June

Alastair Campbell, best known for his role as former Prime Minister Tony Blair’s Director of Communications, is one of the UK’s foremost mental health campaigners. He has spoken openly about his experience of depression, psychosis and addiction, and is determined to tackle the stigma of mental illness. So, when I was given the opportunity to speak to him about wellbeing in the workplace, I jumped at the chance.

Alastair and I will spend an hour chatting in a keynote interview, which you can watch on 3 June 2021 at the Workplace Wellbeing Virtual Conference. We will cover:

  • How employers at No.10 and The Mirror reacted to his mental health challenges
  • The impact of depression on his work life
  • Alastair’s take on what managers should do when someone in the team is going through a difficult period of mental illness
  • Advice for supporting a colleague or friend who experiences depression
  • Why happiness and a proactive approach to wellbeing should be the priority of nations and employers
  • What to do if senior management don’t recognise the value of investing in workplace wellbeing

Alastair will join a star-studded speaker line-up which includes astronaut Tim Peake, Winter Olympic gold medallist Amy Williams and Mind CEO Paul Farmer, who will all address mental health and wellbeing, with a focus on the workplace.

The Workplace Wellbeing Virtual Conference was part of a month-long virtual event called Connect, which included the virtual Safety & Health Expo and Workplace Wellbeing Show exhibitions, in 2021.
