Health is everyone’s business – Public consultation to reduce ill health-related job loss launched

The Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) has launched a public consultation on a range of measures to reduce ill health-related job loss.

The consultation, ‘Health is everyone’s business: Proposals to reduce ill health-related job loss‘, is a comprehensive document consisting of 56 questions which seeks views on different ways in which the government and employers can take action to reduce ill health-related job loss.

The questions have a balance of focus between mental and physical health and are tailored for both large and SME companies.

The proposals aim to support and encourage early action by employers for their employees with long-term health conditions, and improve access to quality, cost-effective occupational health.

Karl Simons, Chief Health, Safety & Security Officer, Thames Water, who was involved in the development of the document, commented: “Following a great deal of effort by the DWP work & health unit, working alongside technical specialists from within the business community, I am delighted and excited about the release of this consultation.

“It’s aimed at providing all with the opportunity to voice their opinion and help with shaping the future of health within business across Great Britain.”
