Join ‘virtual cuppa’ with Women in Health and Safety

Women in Health and Safety is back with two more ‘virtual cuppas’, following successful sessions in September and October.

Women in Health and Safety Mentoring Workstream has set-up two informal coffee catch-ups, designed to discuss opportunities for mentors and mentees.

The free-to-attend Zoom meetings and are open to all health and safety professionals. It doesn’t matter if you’re a man or a woman, previous attendee of a Women in Health and Safety event or not. All are welcome and up to 100 people can register.

Donna Walker, Group Risk Officer EMEA at Caesars Entertainment EMEA, who is in the Mentoring Workstream, said: “Over the next few months the Mentoring Workstream is looking at how to help others in the H&S industry. The aim of these coffee catch ups is to connect and see what you want us to do more of, in helping to support your growth and progression or simply having some friendly faces to turn to. We will be running some collaborative sessions with well established mentoring schemes and offer insights from some well-known health & safety mentoring legends.

“The first session will be kicked off by the brilliant Karen McDonnell, who will be talking about what mentoring is and why it is important, then followed by Safety4Good which will showcase its amazing mentoring scheme. There’s an opportunity at the end to have a good chat and maybe take your next steps on your mentoring journey!”

The virtual cuppas will take place on:

Monday 29 March 2020 at 13:00 GMT, organised in collaboration with ‘Safety4Good’.

Committee member Rebecca Walpole, Health and Safety Manager at Freshfields Bruckhouse Deringer, came up with the idea for the first get-together in September. She said: “I was really missing connectivity with the Women in Health and Safety network and really valued the opportunity for a good chin-wag.”

Women in Health and Safety Chair, Heather Beach of The Healthy Work Company, added: “Health and safety professionals have worked so hard during this pandemic and we have missed the chance to network like we used to.”
