Leeds Metropolitan University has developed a mobile app, which provides employers and their employees with a range of well-being resources based on their current mood and feelings.
The ‘My Wellbeing app’ is free to download and is available on iPhone, Android, and Blackberry devices. It has been developed as an extension of the University’s online well-being website, MyWellbeing.org, which provides advice for a number of clients across the public and private sector, reaching more than 200,000 employees and their families.
The mobile app will provide the same information as the website, which contains 65 wellbeing-related topics that can be accessed through an easy-to-navigate design. The task-based advice is built around every-day tasks, such as dealing with e-mails, writing reports, or attending meetings. It also provides tips on how to manage these activities, as well as offering related health advice on items such as relaxation, or anger management.
The programme’s founder John Hamilton, head of safety, health and well-being at the University, explains: “This phone app is a great resource for employers, providing them with the ability to signpost help and advice for all their employees, wherever they are.”
