Safety initiative helped reduce forklift fatalities
National Forklift Safety Week ran between 21 to 27 September and was supported by a national media campaign. As a result thousands of people visited the FLTA’s website and accessed free resources, which highlighted ways of improving forklift safety.During the campaign only one forklift-related fatality was reported. FLTA chief executive David Ellison said: “I am convinced that September 2009 will have been a safer month due to our collective efforts. I am grateful to all those who became involved in supporting the campaign.“The resources we created were uniformly successful in terms of their demand. Since good practice is for life, not just for Safety Week, it seemed only fitting that we keep them available for anyone who needs them.”
