Weather experts warned earlier this year, Britain could be facing on of the coldest winters in 30 years, with the “Beast from the East” set to return. Temperatures in January and February 2020 are predicted to drop as low as -14C.
Extreme weather can cause havoc for worker’s travel, can disrupt work schedules, cause damage to sites and is said to cost the UK economy up to £1bn a day.
Arco is urging business to put plans in place well in advance of the bad weather hitting and advises firms to ‘be ready to take action promptly should they need to, rather than waiting for the situation to become urgent’.

“All businesses should have a Business Continuity Plan and begin to make preparations well in advance. Essential steps include stocking up on the necessary workplace safety items and kit for employees and ensuring that equipment is well maintained and in good working condition.”
