Welding bays: Weldability-Sif

Welding bays can be designed and installed by UK firm Weldability-Sif using a modular walling system, according to the company.

The firm comments that welding bays are constructed using floor-mounted acoustic panels that are manufactured for epoxy coated steel with a sound absorbing core; panels are secure to the workshop floor via adjustable brackets which allow for uneven surfaces.

Weldability-Sif adds that panels can be manufactured in varying configurations making them adaptable for nearly all working areas. A bronze impact-resistant viewing panel can be incorporated into panels to allow supervision from outside of a welding bay and also to avoid people entering the bay when hazardous operations are taking place, say the company.

They go on to explain that access to welding bays can be provided using a standard welding strip curtaining and as an option these can be mounted on a sliding rail to provide unobstructed entry and exit when manoeuvring items in and out of the working area.

Provision can also be made for a robust mounting point for power, gas and air supply points to be secured at a convenient location, and if a fume control system is to be used a mounting rail module can be added to the top of the panels to allow mounting of a fume arm and bracket, say the firm.
