Chemical-protective suits – ONESuit Pro

Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics has extended the shelf life of its ONESuit® Pro gas-tight chemical-protective hazmat suits from seven to ten years, following testing.

The ONESuit® Pro’s increased shelf life is said to improve cost efficiency over the longer term, while ensuring full protection over a ten-year period for fire, chemical, military and industrial organisations.

The Coretech™ material used in the suit has been tested against harsh physical and climatic conditions to ensure that it maintains its high resilience, durability and flexibility performance levels and suffers no significant degradation, explains Saint-Gobain Performance Plastics.

According to the company’s Ian Hutcheson, no routine maintenance is required on the suits over the ten years after purchase. He said: “Moreover, as a limited-life suit should be disposed of once contaminated, the fire and rescue services can replace contaminated suits and have 100-per-cent security that the new suit is in good condition, without the hassle of ensuring full decontamination, inspection, pressure-testing procedures – not to mention organising repair of suits, if necessary.”

Said to be certified to both EN 943-1 and EN 943-2, the suits are available in ET (emergency team), industrial and CBRN versions for chemical, biological, radiological, and nuclear situations.
