KFC facing health and safety prosecution

Fast food chain KFC is being prosecuted over allegations of a breach of health and safety rules.

Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is prosecuting KFC over alleged breaches at its Haydock Park Outlet, at Teesside Retail Park.

According to a spokesperson from the council the charges relate to a 17-year-old employee who received burns while working for the fast food restaurant.

The charges relates to 14 July 2014 and are that the company failed to ensure that one of its workers was not exposed to a risk “to their health, safety or welfare”; and that the company failed to “provide instruction, training and supervision to ensure the health and safety of one of its employees”.

No pleas have yet been entered and the case against KFC has been adjourned until 18 October at Teesside Magistrates Court.
