April 19, 2017Honeywell Combisafe has been awarded the esteemed Beaumont Safety Trophy for its use of the Combisafe Edge Protection System during the construction of the Crossrail Custom House station in London.
Part of Honeywell Industrial Safety’s (HIS) fall protection business, the Edge Protection System was instrumental in protecting contractors from falls during the 18-month-long project.
The trophy, awarded to companies that create innovative safety methods and devices, was given to Honeywell after their Edge Protection System was deemed a key innovation by the Beaumont judging panel. This judging panel included three directors of the Construction Health and Safety Group.

Due to contractors having to work directly over an operational, electrified railway and under the main electrical cables that service Canary Wharf traditional working-at-height methods such as scaffold platforms and hydraulic towers were not viable.
The Honeywell Edge Protection system works using a pre-attached hanging platform that was lifted into place at ground level, reducing the need to work at height.
