Heather Beach, OSH director, UBM, addressed the packed room of readers, advertisers and contributors, to deliver a presentation which looked back at the huge legacy of SHP magazine and thanking three of the magazine’s longest-serving editors who were in attendance – Godric Jolliffe, Tina Weadick and Nick Warburton.
The newly created SHP editorial board was also unveiled with a hand-selected panel of health and safety experts who contribute regularly to the website through articles, webinars, interviews, videos and more. The editorial board includes:
SHP Online, which is re-launching in January, has been going from strength to strength in the last 12 months with record-breaking visitors including 16,000 visitors in one week, downloads and a whole host of new features to engage the health and safety community including:
SHP4Jobs is also leading the way as the number one health and safety jobs board, with Shirley Parsons extolling the virtues of the platform with over 870 direct applicants for jobs coming from SHP4Jobs in the last three months.
Clive Johnson, head of health and safety for Land Securities, and Steve Hails, health and safety director for Crossrail, explained their long-standing relationship with SHP magazine and how they are looking forward to the new opportunities that SHP Online will offer.

Alas at many of our worksites internet access is limited and as such to be able to hand round the ‘hard copy’ of SHP was good news and generally well received.
Good luck all, but a shame, I am one for moving with the times but now I will still be tied to my desk to read SHP online, whereas before I could escape the desk and read your magazine in peace and away from the dreaded PC?

Yes, the last issue of SHP magazine will be published in January 2016, but we will continue to cover features, news, in-courts, webinars, videos, infographics and more on SHP Online.

Lets hope this new world will be better than the existing online SHP.
I am just taking a break from trying to read it on my 14″ screen. Enlarging, shrinking, moving around the screen all a literal pain in the neck, and mouse inensive.
A paper browse means items I might not have focused on, catch the eye, and get read. Online, no chance, just skim to find something worth the effort of trying to actually read it.
Whilst printing of individual pages is a welcome option, it is a really tedious process, and often the graphics of the backgrounds of articles are too strong. The resulting copy from my inkjet printer is unreadable. Please let this be resolved if we have to lose the ever-shrinking hard copy SHP.
I hope we will be able to download individual articles as .pdf files – this will make keeping an offline reference library easier and make presenting information to management much easier if it is already in a presentable form – with the author’s details etc.
I agree with you David – PDFs would be extremely useful when sharing information in a training session.
