Man dies in Tadcaster sewage works accident

A man who suffered severe burns in an industrial accident at a sewage treatment works has died.

Mick Jennings, 55, was airlifted to hospital following the incident at Oxton Lane in Tadcaster on Monday.

He died on 22 July and a joint investigation with the Health and Safety Executive and fire service is under way, North Yorkshire Police said.

Mr Jennings worked for Yorkshire Water for eight years as a mechanical fitter in an engineering team.

A statement from the company said: “It is with great sadness that we can confirm the death yesterday of our colleague.

“Our deepest thoughts and sympathies go out to his family, friends and work colleagues at this most difficult of times.”
