Jaguar Land Rover: Staff treated after ‘chemical incident’

One Jaguar Land Rover worker has been hospitalised and a number of others assessed by paramedics after reportedly feeling unwell when a floor sealant had been applied at the firm’s site in Solihull.

JLR Lode LaneAn investigation is underway after several workers became unwell and had to be evacuated from the Jaguar Land Rover Lode Lane site in Solihull on Sunday July 7.

West Midlands Ambulance Service confirmed that its hazardous area response team attended the incident and that ‘a small number of contractors and employees were triaged’.

It added that the hospitalised person had ‘minor symptoms’ and was discharged later that day and that ‘most felt symptoms reduce once out of the affected area and in fresh air’.

In total, around 30 people were evacuated from the premises after staff started to experience ‘headaches, itchy eyes and vomiting’, following the application of a floor sealant.

Jaguar Land Rover said that the site had returned to ‘business as usual’ on Monday and that a full investigation into the incident is now underway.
