Four feared trapped after Cheshire wood mill explosion

A major incident has been declared after two explosions and a fire at a wood mill in Bosley, Cheshire, leaving four people believed to be trapped in the building.

So far one patient has been taken to Royal Stoke University Hospital by land ambulance and one patient taken to Wythenshawe Hospital, Manchester, by air ambulance suffering from burns.

Cheshire Fire and Rescue say a four-storey building has collapsed and there is a risk of further explosions.

North West Ambulance Service have despatched at least six ambulances, two rapid response vehicles, two doctors, four managers, Hazardous Area Response Team (HART) and air ambulance to the scene at Wood Flour Mills.

Chief Inspector Paul Carroll said: “There is currently a lot of smoke emanating from the building and it is advised that residents living in the area should close their doors and windows. It is also advised to avoid the area while we deal with this incident.”
