Duty-of-care- Furniture company introduces eye tests for drivers

The tests are part of a number of measures being introduced by the Hull-based company as a part of its extended duty-of-care programme. This has led to the firm’s insurance company reducing the proposed premium increase by nine per cent.
 
At present the only eye test that a driver is required to take is during their drivers test. But from 2011 drivers will be required to take more regular tests. Kingstown Furniture has been proactive in taking the step to test drivers’ eyesight before it is legally required to do so.Kingstown Furniture health safety and environment manager Mike Morland said: “Our duty is to ensure that all of our employees are safe and this includes our drivers who drive thousands of miles each year.”
