The final report on the implementation of health and safety reforms has been published by the Department of Work and Pensions.
The report is the final update on the work done on implementing Professor Lofstedt’s recommendations, as well as the recommendations in Lord Young of Graffham’s earlier report ‘Common Sense, Common Safety’.
The HSE commented that the final progress report marks a major milestone in the achievement HSE has made in delivering reforms to health and safety legislation and guidance.
Dr Richard Judge, chief executive of the regulatory body, added that HSE had made significant progress in reducing regulatory burdens for business by helping them understand what they need to do to keep their workers safe.
He added that they had undertaken an extensive guidance review and reduced the overall stock of legislation by 50 per cent.

Whats gone? H&S at Work Act?, FRRO?, 6 pack?, COSHH?, Electrity at Work? etc etc etc….. I challenge anyone to list all the H&S legislation and then list the half that has gone. I can think of a couple; the Hard Hat Regulations! and some obscure regulations to do with celluloid film that no one had ever heard of anyway apart from people who were in the celluloid H&S industry!
