Grenfell: Campaign group perform three billboards stunt

Campaign group Justice 4 Grenfell have created three billboards which were placed on the back of trucks and paraded around London to illustrate the lack of progress since the tragedy.

The three billboards were driven through central London on the way to Grenfell Tower, where they parked outside what is locally-dubbed ‘The Wall of Truth’, to highlight the lack of progress being made in the wake of the Grenfell Tower tragedy.

The activity was undertaken to remember 8 months since the tragedy, and the stunt recreates a scene from the film ‘Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri’, following its success at the Golden Globes and multiple nominations for this weekend’s BAFTAs.

The billboards read ’71 Dead’, ‘Still No Arrests’, ‘How Come?’.

Dame Judith Hackitt’s preliminary findings from her Building Regulations review following the tragedy were announced before Christmas – with a final report expected in the Spring.

The full public inquiry into the tragedy, led by Sir Martin Moore-Bick, has also begun its evidence sessions.

I suspect the survivors of Grenfell will be greatly disappointed because I seriously doubt there will any prosecutions and almost certainly no individuals will be brought to account. The issues evolving around the fire are very complex and multi-causal. The public enquiry will identify an industry wide non-compliance with inadequate safeguards in place through building regulations, products, enforcement, etc.

Grenfell was not a failure of individuals but of the whole industry. There was an extensive chain of events that had lead to this tragedy…
