Workplace defibrillators could increase survival rate

Bull Products is a manufacturer and importer of safety equipment, including fire protection products and first aid equipment. The company has recently highlighted the benefits of automated external defibrillators (AED) and having them to hand in the workplace and public spaces.

According to Bull Products, 200,000 people die from sudden cardiac arrest (SCA) but they claim that thousands of them could be saved if they collapsed close to a defibrillator. The firm suggests that CPR and using an AED increases the chance of survival five-fold to 50%.

Bull Products has expanded its range of AED equipment, with its Life Point Pro defibrillator and its Zoll AED Plus defibrillator. According to Bull Products:

  • the Life Point Pro AED directs the user with voice commands. The unit automatically analyses the ECG signal of the patient and decides whether or not defibrillation is required. The Life Point Pro operates on a three-step basis – the user turns it on, unpacks the pads, and attaches them to the patient’s chest, followed by defibrillation by pressing the shock button
  • the Zoll AED Plus defibrillator provides real CPR help for rate and depth of chest compressions. With realtime feedback, the rescuer can provide manual CPR resuscitation.

Bull Products add that AEDs are designed to be used by people with no knowledge or experience.
