Access hatches and smoke vents – D-50T double-leaf hatch
Roof-hatch, smoke-vent and access-equipment supplier Bilco UK says it has played its part in providing essential materials for the construction of the Heron Tower at 110 Bishopsgate in London, currently the city’s tallest building.
The products supplied by Bilco included four roof-access hatches and two smoke vents. It says it managed to build and deliver a D-50T double-leaf hatch within four weeks after receiving the order for an extra hatch that was required for this project.
The D-50T hatches will provide access to the roof areas for cleaning and maintenance activities. They feature overlapping covers and a spring-operated system, which is said to provide easy access at all times.
Two single-leaf natural smoke vents were also supplied, along with control panels and smoke detectors. In the event of a fire the REM vents are said to automatically open to 140º to rapidly disperse heat, smoke and gases.
