Managing director of storage specialist Denios, Roy Smith, is concerned about what he perceives as a crucial lack of knowledge of potential hazards and of legislation within the safety sector.
At Safety & Health Expo at the NEC in May, the company ran a series of seminars, which Smith describes as “a very tangible demonstration to people of the sheer complexity of the dangerous permutations of mixing the wrong amounts of gases and chemicals, and the literally explosive consequences, which, in turn, contravene the DSEAR Regulations”.
Because the company also feels that many of the storage laws are not stringent enough, and that different government bodies overlap and confuse the matter, Denios has decided to extend the roadshow nature of the seminars in different formats to suit different audiences and bookable at any location in the UK. The company now offers a 90-minute version of the exhibition seminar, which costs £250 per individual to attend, with a comprehensive half-day extension available for larger, self-contained audiences, which costs £495. Fees are redeemable against appropriate order levels.
