Working at Height – Checkmate

Checkmate Lifting and Safety unveiled the new MAX Constant Rate Descender (CRD) at the A+A international trade fair in Dusseldorf in November 2013.
According to the company, the Checkmate MAX Descender is a versatile constant rate descender for use by up to three people.
The company says that models are available for both automatic hands free operation and multiple descene models with advanced rescue functionality.
Checkmate Lifting and Safety says that two rope options are available for either 150kg or 300kg rated loads.
The company says that the device is designed to be used attached to the anchor point in regular mode of operation, or in an inverted mode, attached to the user and/or casualty.
According to Checkmate Lifting and Safety, the device is completely symmetrical, which they say allows full use of all functions regardless of the direction the MAX is running. This is also meant to give full functionality for each multiple descent or rescue.
The company says that the principal features of the MAX constant rate descender are: integrated rope guiders; stainless steel wear points; durable brake liner; captive fittings available; raising mechanism for rescue; rope lock off (Max-R model only).
