Safe working at height system recognised by IAPAs

MEWP GraphicGood to Go Safety has announced being shortlisted for the 2015 International Awards for Powered Access (IAPAs), taking place on 26 March in Washington DC alongside the IPAF Summit conference [25-27 March].

The company has been shortlisted for this year’s “Contribution to Safe Working at Height” award, which they say focuses on individuals or companies that have made a significant contribution to safe working at height.

Good to Go Safety explain that their Safe Equipment Management System (SEMS) is designed to encourage pre-use checks of a range of workplace equipment, including MEWPs, adding that their range offers a duplicate copy of each checklist – providing a permanent record that inspections have been carried out. In the event of an accident, these records can be used to prove the equipment has been properly maintained and checked, they say.

The company add that the completed checklist is displayed in the tag on the machine, meaning that workers instantly know when it was checked and what the findings were and also highlight that a tamper evident seal adds extra confidence that the findings are accurate.

Good to Go Safety say the MEWP checklist has been designed to be used on virtually any type of MEWP – whether a cherry picker, telescopic boom or scissor lift and includes a comprehensive list of essential safety/component checks. The range allows the same system to be used on other equipment types, including harnesses, scaffold towers, and ladders, says the company.

It highlights some of the other key benefits of the SEMS as:

  • compliance with legislation and industry best practice
  • reduction in maintenance costs
  • quick and easy to use/implement
  • allows instant quarantine of equipment if faults are found.
