IPAF helps Spain with MEWP training guidance
The International Powered Access Federation (IPAF) has partnered with Spanish standards institute AENOR to begin work on a national standard on operator training for the use of mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs) in Spain.
The Spanish Health and Safety at Work Act currently makes no mention of the basic requirements for sufficient and appropriate training of MEWP operators. A committee of AENOR met in Madrid on 4 November to start work on agreeing criteria for MEWP operator training in Spain.
As part of the working group, The IPAF is helping to share its knowledge and experience of its MEWP operator-training programme that is certified by TÜV as conforming to ISO 18878. The working group comprises experts from the powered access industry, including distributors, manufacturers, training and rental companies.
