Fall-arrest harness – ZT safety systems

ZT Safety Systems says it has designed its fall safety harness to eliminate the damage and trauma associated with traditional harnesses, and, at the same time, improve the day-to-day working experience and performance for the wearer.

The company says the design of the harness eliminates the use of groin straps and instead uses a system that works with the body to distribute and absorb the forces experienced in the event of a fall. The unit combines an integrated harness and lanyard with performance workwear trousers, or overalls. It employs a patented leg gaiter system with lanyard and front-point attachment.

The ZT harness is said to be easy to fit and can be worn comfortably during the working day, and even while driving. It has no loose straps or lanyards, so there is no risk of catching these on door handles or wing mirrors while entering or exiting a vehicle, the company points out.

When working at height, and in the event of a fall, the ZT Safety Systems says its harness works by clenching with the calf gaiters; the full body system evenly distributes the fall forces throughout the entire harness, so there is no shock or pressure point loads. Following the fall, the user comes to rest in a comfortable seated position that allows the blood to continue its flow freely around the body.

The trousers do not form part of the safety structure of the system, so the harness can be retro-fitted into any type of work trouser.

ZT Safety Systems manufactures the harness in the UK, using UK-sourced materials where possible.
