The WiHS meeting, which is free to attend, will introduce the  EU-OSHA campaign to Scotland’s health and safety community,  focussing on a whole life approach to managing dangerous substances, providing an insight into the challenges of managing dangerous substances across the life course, focussing on the working age population and how to effectively engage and communicate critical information.

Karen McDonnell, Head of RoSPA Scotland & Occupational Health and Safety Policy Adviser at RoSPA said: “We want to encourage a whole person whole life approach to prevention across working lives. Workplaces tend to manage dangerous substances well, but how do we translate what we do well in the workplace to the wider community towards lives free from serious accidental injury?”

“We are hoping that as part of the Women in Health and Safety shared network we can really build some momentum around the EUOSHA campaign here in the UK, sharing best practice and creating case studies.”

The meeting will allow time for peer networking and a chance for everyone to share what works for them in terms of managing dangerous substances.

Karen, who will be speaking at the event to introduce the EU-OSHA campaign said: “The Women in Health and Safety Network is so energetic. We really want to let people have a chance to tell us what is working for them, how they got to where they are, in order that we can keep the dialogue going around this and other topics we tackle on a daily basis.”

The event

The  free to attend networking event concluding with a drinks reception takes place between 16.30 – 20.00 at Royal College of Surgeons  in Edinburgh…and is open to members and non-members of Women in Health and Safety (both men and women are encouraged to attend).
