Bullying costs calculated

Employers are failing to tackle the root causes of bullying in the workplace, which is costing the UK £13.75 billion a year, according to the Dignity at Work partnership.

Jointly funded by the Government and Unite the union, the project also reveals that black, minority and ethnic workers are more likely to be targets of workplace bullying and harassment than other workers, and are less likely to have a support network to help them through the experience.

Two separate reports, ‘Dignity at work: The cost of workplace bullying’, and ‘Dignity at work: Black and minority ethnic employee experiences of workplace bullying’, plus an action pack with solutions to the issue, are available by emailing Bridget Clemson at Unite.

What makes us susceptible to burnout?

In this episode  of the Safety & Health Podcast, ‘Burnout, stress and being human’, Heather Beach is joined by Stacy Thomson to discuss burnout, perfectionism and how to deal with burnout as an individual, as management and as an organisation.

We provide an insight on how to tackle burnout and why mental health is such a taboo subject, particularly in the workplace.
