Barbour webinar: A New Skillset? Employability in the Health and Safety Profession

Date: Tuesday 9th May 2017
Time: 11:00 – 12:00 (BST)
Speakers: Heather Beach, Managing Director, The Healthy Work Company (Moderator); Emma Head, Executive Team Member, High Speed Two Limited; John Dunne, Executive Committee Member, Wates; Anna Keen, Founder, Acre Frameworks

For the last few years, there has been a growing debate in the health and safety profession, that a new skillset is needed.  That a technical understanding and knowledge of the law are not enough to win over hearts and minds. This webinar seeks to examine exactly what behaviours and competencies are required for the modern day health and safety professional.  It is based on interviews with more than 50 health and safety leaders in the UK and features two leaders in health and safety – Emma Head from HS2 and John Dunne from Wates.

It looks at what employers are now demanding when looking to expand their health and safety teams and what helps to ensure career development and success

The webinar also features Anna Keen (Acre Frameworks) who has 12 years in recruitment in this sector and has seen the competencies demanded change radically from those early days.  She has also developed the Acre Framework and has now developed a clear pattern of the skills gaps which the profession needs to start to bridge. It also features Heather Beach (The Healthy Work Company) who has built a training business in order to meet those needs.
