Nominations for the 2024 SHP Trailblazer Award are now being accepted.
The SHP Trailblazer Award, part of the wider SHP Awards programme, recognises those that have implemented an innovative approach that has made a significant and genuine difference to an organisation’s health and safety performance.
Criteria, guidance and advice for entrants
Judges will be looking for someone who is an innovator; someone who has come up with a solution, having identified an issue or problem within their environment. Judges will want to see the ideas used to solve that problem and how it was successfully implemented by communicating with stakeholders (managers/wider team) throughout the process. They would also like to see demonstrable evidence in terms of statistics that show improvements in safety, efficiency/lost time incidents, cost savings etc. Short case studies are also welcome to convey improvements made.
Marcin Nazaruk, last year’s Trailblazer winner said: “Winning the Trailblazer Award last year was a truly humbling recognition that the HSE community sees the need to go beyond incident investigations and start learning from normal work to identify pre-cursors of accidents before they happen.
“My advice to those applying is simple: focus on the difference you’re making and be authentic in your approach.”
