Anna Keen is founder and director of Acre Frameworks. Having spent more than a decade recruiting Health and Safety professionals across the globe, Anna is working in partnership with Acre to add value to their clients and the wider Health and Safety profession through the assessment and development of behavioural competencies in the profession.

Anna has worked with industry leaders to define the competencies critical for success in Health and Safety and creating the Acre Frameworks Competency Framework. The framework underpins a range of assessment and development offerings aimed at assisting individuals and teams to improve their performance and develop their careers.

Simon Bliss, MD, Principal People

Simon bought Principal People from the inspirational Frances Davies in 2010, and since then has been re-building the team after the challenges of the recession. The company has developed a leading recruitment consultancy, specialising in Health, Safety and Environment, whilst looking at new ways to engage candidates and provide clients with tangible differentiators such as video interviews and behavioural profiling.

The company has a true sector focus in construction, manufacturing, logistics, H&S consultancy, business services, and HSE executive search. It has also joined forces with the Juhler Group, which has the global presence of 40 offices throughout Europe and Asia, and is rolling out its services throughout the group. Simon’s role as Chief Operating Officer is to work with each country manager to develop their region to its full potential.

Jenny, McGrother, Director Health & Safety Services, University of Reading

Jenny McGrotherJenny has two decades of experience in health and safety. She worked in health and safety law-enforcement, as an Inspector at the UK’s Health & Safety Executive.

She then worked in Safety Management System design and went on to lead the ESH team in a high-hazard nuclear facility, before specialising in Process Safety.

She is now the Director of Health & Safety Services at the University of Reading, a research-intensive University with campuses in the UK, Malaysia and South Africa.

Why is it that despite of some countries developing their SMS which are benchmarked with the ISO 18000 series, 14001 and 45001, it has been noted at a greater extent that employers from various sectors in African countries are getting free from these criminal offenses being committed. Its so worrying that the blame is slumped on individual victims even where HSWA Acts 1974 has seen to have been violated by these employers. Why can’t these laws be standardized internationally.
