‘We’re firm believers in the merits of e-Learning’: In conversation with Safety Media

Safety Media is once again sponsoring the Keynote Theatre at next week’s Safety & Health Expo. SHP sat down with Managing Director Toby Roberts to see what the training provider has planned for this year’s event.

Please tell us a little about Safety Media and what the company does?

Toby Roberts (TR):Safety Media creates health and safety software which is deployed and managed via an online portal. This includes Incident Reporting, Risk Management, Audits, Document Management and e-Learning. All of our solutions are created by our inhouse teams of developers and managed by our incredible Customer Experience team.”

Why have you chosen to sponsor the Keynote Theatre at this year’s Safety & Health Expo?

(TR): “As an organisation, employee health and wellbeing alongside strong strategic leadership are key factors in our continued success. Upon hearing the topics being promoted in the Keynote Theatre this year, it felt like a great opportunity to support those speaking and highlight that as a company we are about more than straight forward e-Learning.”

You will be exhibiting at the show and will be encouraging visitors to attend your on-stand seminars, what can they expect to pick up from those sessions?

(TR): “Our seminars this year aim to answer a simple question: ‘What place does software have in health and safety?’.

“We will be inviting guests to join us on the upper deck of our stand while our Operations Director gives a whistle-stop tour of how software can have a positive effect on health and safety practices. There will be plenty of time for questions and our team of experts will be on hand to provide one to one demonstrations and offer practical and individual advice.”

Do visitors have to register to attend, or can they just pop onto your stand during the course of the three days?

(TR): “The seminars will be run twice daily (once on the last day) throughout the show. There is no need to pre-register but if anyone would like to then this can be done by clicking here.

“If you happen to miss the seminars then there will be plenty of people available throughout the event to make sure all of your questions about health and safety software are answered.”

Which visitors will most benefit from the content of your sessions?

(TR): “Anyone who is curious about health and safety software and what benefits this can have in your organisation.  Whether you are looking for a solution to manage Incident reporting, provide e-Learning, manage risk assessments or a combination of all of them, if you are looking for expert advice from an organisation that has been around for over 20 years then pop by to speak to one of the team.”

What else can visitors expect to see on your stand? Do you have any special offers on training or software which visitors can take advantage of?

(CW): “Aside from a warm welcome, a place to rest your weary exhibition feet, access to an amazing view of the whole show and of course expert advice, we will be looking after the wellbeing of our guests by offering cold water and possibly even other refreshments during the event to help take the edge of what we hope will be some nice sunny summer days.”

Why do you think training, e-Learning in particular, is something that should be embraced?

(TR): “We are obviously firm believers in the merits of e-Learning over other forms of training when it comes to basic health and safety awareness. We use it across our own organisation and have genuinely found the rewards in terms of cost and time efficiency have been incredible.

“Not only does e-Learning provide a quick method of training delivery but it also provides a full audit trail and ability to prove comprehension of material which is lacking in other forms of training. When inspecting bodies come calling, it is crucial that stakeholders can lay their hands efficiently on all relevant records, not simply training records but risk assessments etc, which is where an all in one online portal becomes an asset worth its weight in gold.”

Finally, where can visitors find you at the show?

(TR): “We will be on Stand M100 which is right by the main entrance to the show. You shouldn’t be able to miss our double decker stand but just to be sure make sure you hop off at Customs House for a VIP welcome to the show.”
