Safety & Health Expo

Safety & Health Expo is preparing to re-open its doors in July

After two years without an in-person event, Safety & Health Expo is gearing up to welcome back visitors and exhibitors to London’s ExCeL, from 12-14 July 2021. Here, Informa Markets Group Director, Chris Edwards, explains some of the work going on behind the scenes to make this happen.

Safety & Health Expo 2021 is scheduled to take place from 12–14 July 2021 at ExCeL London, as an in-person event run in line with the industry-recognised and Government-approved Informa AllSecure standard, designed to ensure the safety of all attendees.

Piloted in September 2020, Informa AllSecure was approved by the UK Government on 19 November 2020 as a model for running large events safely. It involves several health and safety measures, including deep cleaning, social distancing onsite, staggered arrival times and PPE, including face masks.

In the fourth step of the Government’s four-step roadmap to ease the UK out of lockdown, mass gatherings such as tradeshows, music events and sports events have been given permission to recommence, from June 21, subject to the other three steps being passed along the way.

Informa Markets Group Director, Chris Edwards told SHP: “Now that we have details of the Government’s plans, we’re getting ready for Safety & Health Expo to take place in July. We do believe that all events taking place in 2021, and possibly beyond, are going to need to have enhanced health & safety measures. That’s why Informa, along with other leading events organisations, have created AllSecure, a set of industry-leading standards that raise the bar in creating safe, hygienic and high-quality event experiences.”

Chris said he is confident that we will be in a position to meet, face-to-face, in July. “It’s important to remember that, at this point, over 25m people have received the first dose of the vaccine in the UK. By the time we get to April, that number is going to rise to 32m, and we’ll have shops open. When we get to May, bars and restaurants will be open and we’ll still be two months away from the doors opening at the show.”

He added that there is a hunger from the sector to return to in-person events: “We’re all pining for an opportunity to do business face-to-face, we really want to give people their first opportunity to come back together as communities in these sectors that we serve in July.

Safety & Health Expo is co-located with Workplace Wellbeing Show, Intelligent Building Europe, Facilities Show, FIREX International and IFSEC International.

Prior to that, don’t miss Safety & Health Expo Connect 2021, which will take place online throughout June.
