Workwear- GORE-TEX technical garments

Said to protect the wearer against rain and wind, heat and flames, electrostatic discharge, and hazardous liquids, GORE-TEX technical garments for workplace applications are available from W L Gore & Associates.

The company says a major factor in the success of the garments is the seam-sealing technology developed by Gore engineers some three decades ago.

The firm’s technical solution to the problem of seam sealing is to attach waterproof seam sealing tapes, known as GORE-SEAM Tapes, to the inside of the garment. The company also develops special adhesives, which are applied to the back of the tapes so that they are ready to use, providing what the firm describes as a strong but highly flexible connection between the tape and the laminate. According to Gore, these adhesives and tapes do not age and permanently withstand mechanical, biological and chemical exposure, so that the garments can be repeatedly washed, or dry-cleaned without suffering damage.
